My great big eye My name is Hairyshoefairy, sometimes known as HSF. My hubby made it up. I used to be a hair stylist, have a serious shoe fetish, and “fairy” rhymes with “hairy,” so there you go. Hairyshoefairy. This is my big blue eye. My eyes are a gift from my mama, given to her by my grandpa. My little Wingnut has them, too.

I grew up in northern Utah and graduated in the year 2000. I attended a University for 3 years. I started out as a Soprano Vocal Performance major, but decided I wanted to like music when I was finished with college so I changed my major to English, Literary Studies. One day near the end of the three years I talked to my counselor and discovered it would be yet another three years before I could graduate. I wasn’t in love with English and wasn’t especially thrilled with the idea of three more years, so I decided to do something totally different. I went to cosmetology school. I graduated and started working. I didn’t work very long before my husband and I moved to California so he could begin medical school.  We babysat idiots managed an apartment two of the three years we lived there before moving back to Utah to finish school and stay for ODD’s three years of residency as well.  We hear someday ODD will actually make money as a doctor but aren’t convinced that will ever really happen.  I guess in a few more years we’ll find out if it’s true.

My husband, ODD (formerly NYDD), and I met in high school, though apparently we went to the same elementary and middle schools, too. He was a year older than me so we never really met until high school. We often wonder if we played with each other on the playground and never knew it. That’s a movie we’d like to see someday. Anyway, we did a lot of the same things in high school. We were in musicals and choir together. We had a lot of the same friends. We even went on a few dates, but nothing serious. He graduated and served a mission for our church while I finished high school and began college. After my first year of college I went to Connecticut and Massachusetts to be a nanny. I came home in November of 2001 and NYDD returned from the mission a week later. The following January/February we started dating. We got engaged in August 2002 and were married December 2002. Quick, I know, but we’d known each other for years. Peanut was born in July 2006 and is the most sweet and beautiful little girl there ever was.  Wingnut was born in April 2009 and is mellow and so yummy.

I enjoy singing and used to perform a lot. One of my favorite roles was as a Sunburst Singer in the USU Sunburst Club.* I did this my first year or college and loved the experience. During Christmas we dressed in Victorian costumes and caroled in Sun Valley, Idaho. Then, during Spring semester we did a big floorshow with a live orchestra. It was one of the best years of my life.  I’m mostly classically trained, singing a lot of opera and art songs, but I’ve also had training in pop, jazz, and belt.  I enjoy most musical genres but don’t get much opportunity to sing anymore as I’m a stay-at-home mom with a husband who is gone much of the time.

I also enjoy crafting. I like scrapbooking, quilting, sewing, and doing needlework. It’s hard finding time to do it much now that I have a baby again, but sometimes while he’s napping I can fit some creativity in.

My life right now pretty much consists of cleaning up after, feeding, and playing with Peanut and Wingnut, running errands, and, if there’s time, relaxing.  ODD and spend time together watching movies with our projector and big screen (during which we usually make cynical remarks) since we have a hard time getting to the theater with no money and a couple of kids.

*The Sunburst Club is a program at USU that has since been canned because some people are stupid jerks and have their own stupid agendas of “budget problems,” but I get very loud and emotional discussing it so I try not to. If you ever want to hear the whole story, I’m more than willing to share. It’s just a lot to have thrust upon you if your not prepared.
