Since Alt Summit is generally geared toward bloggers who like pretty things, fashion is kind of a big deal. Daytime is business casual so I wore what I normally like to wear; skirts, tights, and cardigans. The evening is more dressy, though, and no sequins or glitter are spared. Since I wore my normal clothes during the day I won’t bother sharing them but I was really excited about my evening looks and am thrilled to share them here.
I went as Mr. Green for the Clue Party.
The lace skirt is the only piece I originally began with. It was from Target last fall and I couldn’t pass it up. I found the cardigan and shell at Forever 21. The top started out as a short dress so I cut it off and hemmed it into a top. The skinny belt is from Old Navy and the tights are from Target. The tie is a nod to the Clue character Mr. Green. I came across it at Saver’s and knew it would be perfect for the outfit.
I really wanted to find some green openwork tights but couldn’t find any even online and the closest I had were sea green so they wouldn’t really have worked. Then I had the idea to layer some solid green tights under some pretty black openwork. Since they’re both dark the effect is subtle but I like it anyway.
The shoes are magic. I mentioned that Em surprised me with them. They are gorgeous and absolutely perfect. I have worn them three times since Alt and every time I look at them they make me think of my dear Em and smile.
For the Mini Parties I initially planned on a pretty navy pencil skirt I found on clearance at Anthropologie several years ago with my mustard Mary Jane’s and a pretty olive top but the more I thought about it the more I felt like I should glam it up a little more so at the last minute I decided to wear that outfit to the Better Homes and Gardens dinner on Wednesday night and kept my eyes open for something else. I popped in to DownEast Outfitters the day before Alt began and came across a sequin skirt that spoke to me (on sale even!) so I had to bring it home. I figured out the rest of the outfit with pieces I already had and I think it was just right for the parties.
I loved having the chance to dress up a little. I don’t get that chance terribly often these days as a SAHM so it was a great excuse for some fun clothes.
