I’ve had a hard time carving out time for blogging this summer. Peanut and Wingnut are home all day. Together. All day. All. Day. They can be best friend and play so nicely, then two minutes later be worst enemies, pestering and pushing one another’s buttons to no end. It’s a bit exhausting. Since they’re home (or out) with me all day (All. Day.) I’ve been spending more time with them reading, playing games, and doing other things between my somewhat calm moments of nursing Baby Cashew. It’s a good way to spend my time but it takes away from blogging. And for the summer I’m okay with that. When school starts I’ll have some mostly kid-free time to blog regularly again. I hope.
The other thing that has been keeping me busy lately is design. I’ve been taking some Illustrator, Design, and Typography classes from Nicole’s Classes this summer. It does take quite a bit of time but it’s also something I really enjoy. I get to make thing, try new things, and get feedback from the instructors, Alma and Melanie, who are lovely and supportive and know their stuff. I’ve loved it so much! I learn new things with each class, am discovering my design aesthetic, and am gaining confidence in my skills. It makes me feel like I’m actually doing something with my brain besides reading Fancy Nancy all day (ALL. DAY.) every day. While I do love Fancy Nancy it’s nice to be stretching my brain and creativity in new ways.
I’m also really excited to share that today on the Nicole’s Classes blog they are featuring a few of my pieces from the Typography class I just finished. Click over and have a look. I’m really happy with the pieces they chose. Enjoy!
