For the last few months ODD and I have been making an effort to take the kids out on little dates once in a while so they can each get a little one-on-one time with us. Depending on what’s going on we switch of with each kid. While I took Wingnut to a birthday party ODD took Peanut bowling. While Peanut had a marble jar reward movie with me ODD stayed home with Wingnut and played trains with him, then snuggled with him while they watched Up with popcorn and everything. It’s been something all of us have really enjoyed working out and the kids always love a bit of individual attention, especially from ODD since he isn’t around all the time.
Last weekend the stake primary program at our church hosted a daddy-daughter date. We didn’t know much about it as it wasn’t announced much in congregation (or we missed it because we are perpetually late for meetings) but Peanut was super excited about it and she and ODD headed out when we were told it started. As it turns out the party started half an hour early than we were told and unbeknownst to us it was also a 50′s themed party and the guests were supposed to dress up. Apparently somehow everyone got the memo except us but Peanut and ODD still had a fun time. They had a yummy dinner, played games, and took pictures of each little girl with her daddy. Peanut and ODD’s snapshot is proudly displayed on our fridge. All in all, despite ODD not feeling super great that night, he and Peanut were happy they went.
While ODD and Peanut were having their date I took Wingnut out for a little date, too. I considered taking him to McDonald’s to play but wanted something a little more interactive, where he wouldn’t be so distracted by a playground, so instead we went to TCBY for frozen yogurt. I let Wingnut sample a few flavors I thought he might like and let him choose which one he wanted. Then he got to choose a bunch of toppings to go with it. He went for cake batter frozen yogurt topped with strawberries, raspberries, mini Reese’s Pieces, and gummy bears. I had some pink grapefruit sorbet which I’d been craving for a few weeks.
We sat on a little orange couch and happily enjoyed our frozen yogurt together.
He wanted to take a picture of us making goofy faces. What a silly, sweet, snuggly, little guy he is. I like getting some one-on-one time with him and he seems to eat it up, too.

Strawberries? Wingnut? Who’d have guessed?!
I know! Huge surprise there, right?
Oh, so fun! Love the pictures!
