ODD’s birthday is today. He’s also doing surgery all day so we’re celebrating it tomorrow with a big day of fun. And I’m hoping BYU doesn’t lose tomorrow because that would make it not such a fun day for him (in the interest of full disclosure, the kids and I couldn’t care less).
Mrs. Bailey Park (formerly Kermit of The Muppet Family) and her little E. came for a visit last week. It was buckets of fun and I miss her terribly now that she’s back home with her family again. I have stories and pictures to share but that will have to wait for another day when I have pictures uploaded and more time to write about it.
Peanut has been out of school since Wednesday. I’m kind of relieved to have a few days to sleep in and not be running all over Salt Lake. I’m exhausted. I’d hoped to spend yesterday and today sewing up a couple of jackets. One for Peanut and one for Wingnut. It took me forever to track down the pattern I wanted for Wingnut. I finally found it and traced out the pattern I wanted (it’s an expensive pattern so I use copies for cutting). I pulled out the fabric I’d planned for Wingnut’s jacket and discovered I didn’t have enough. I had enough for the one I made last time which doesn’t fit him anymore which I why I had to find a new one in the first place. So today I have to take a trip to the fabric store to get what I need. I spent so much time yesterday focused on the jacket that I forgot to eat often enough and ended up feeling sickish for much of the day. Good times. Feeling sickish wears me out. I ended up taking two naps yesterday and not sewing a single thing. Luckily, I still had enough fabric for Peanut’s jacket and did manage to cut the outside of it out and if I have the energy I’ll cut the lining and sew it today. Maybe.
My dad’s work had a big celebration of Saturday. Mrs. Bailey park went with us. It was really fun and I’ll post more about it when I get my photos uploaded. Afterward we had family pictures taken. My brother, Jazz, was not terribly happy about it. He’d just come from Special Olympics State Games and was exhausted, poor guy. He didn’t want to stand or smile. That’s not terribly unusual for him when taking photos but he wouldn’t even do it for the couple we have take our photos. We use them for just that reason; they can get Jazz to cooperate. It turns out he was just completely wiped out. He went to bed around 8 on Saturday and slept until Monday morning. It’s gotten harder and more taxing each time he goes to State Games and I think this time is going to be the last. His heart just can’t really take it anymore.
I’m trying a few different spiced cider recipes and comparing them. When I decide which one I liked best I’ll be sure to post it. In the mean time I’m loving all the warm, spiced cider and the way it makes my house smell like fall.

Sorry about the photos, hope they weren’t a total loss. Happy birthday to our husbands!
I’m excited to see the cider recipes you post.
I hope you’re starting to feel better, too.
luckily, they won, but then, they were playing Idaho State. I could beat ISU. Happy Birthday, ODD!
[...] sure all of you already know. This was the photo session with Jazz being grumpy because he’d just gotten back from Special Olympics State Games and was completely exhausted. Prepare to be bombarded with lots of family photos. These are the first photos we’ve taken [...]
