Burns, a Skirt, and a Drink

After posting about my sunburned legs last night I got ready for bed and as I took off my shirt I felt some tenderness on my arms and back.  I got sunburned there, too.  Apparently I need some adult supervision when applying sunscreen to myself.  Most of it isn’t too bad but a few spots are pretty bright red.  Still no blisters, though, so I can’t complain too much.  Also, just in case you were wondering, it’s hard to get a good nights rest when the top of your legs are burned and you sleep on your stomach.

I made a skirt yesterday morning while Wingnut was napping.  I found some fabric with an embroidered border that I fell in love with and just had to make into a skirt.  Even better, it was on clearance.  I wanted it to be sort of a full, gathered skirt.  To save myself some time I just went with an easy elastic waist so I didn’t have to fiddle with zippers and a fitted waistband.  I’m really happy with it.

While eating at Tiburon a few weeks ago I fell in love with their pretty bottles of house mint lemonade.  I’ve made fresh pressed lemonade with mint for a couple of years now after trying it at Ti Couz.  It’s a favorite at our house.  Then at the farmer’s market a couple of Saturdays ago I saw a stand selling mint LIMEade.  I’m a sucker for pretty much anything lime so I decided to give it a try at home today.  I made it the same way I make fresh pressed lemonade with mint but with limes instead of lemons and this time I used mint picked from my very own garden.  Isn’t it pretty?  It’s such a great summer drink.
