Fozzie did a lot of work in the kitchen while Kermit was gone but after she got back there was still more to do. He had rearranged the stove and fridge so the layout worked better for cooking and began removing the decorative rock work over the backsplash. Kermit pried off most of the rest of it on Wednesday and Thursday so on Thursday night she, Teeny, and I jumped in the car for a little trip to Lowe’s. We had a few things we needed to get so we wandered around the store looking for them. We laughed as Kermit and I maneuvered some Hardi-Backer board into a big rolling cart and laughed some more as we heaved a very long roll of carpet into the cart a while later. The carpet was so long we had to hold the ends up as we pushed/pulled the cart through the store so the ends didn’t drag on the floor. We were quite a sight. I’m sure people laughed as we passed them.
After grabbing a few other things we checked out and were told to bring our “truck” around so Brody could help us load it up. I pulled my version of a truck (read: my beloved Subaru) over to the door and, after considering loading the car ourselves then promptly laughing, began calling for Brody. Brody never showed up but Matt did.
Matt helped me (cuz I’m so buff with all my recent weight-lifting) get the Hardi-Backer (isn’t that a fun word to say?) onto the car. Then, I got to demonstrate my awesome tying-down skillz as I secured the Hardi-Backer to the car with bungee cords. ODD taught me all I know about that and was quite proud of me when I told him I put my skillz to good use. The carpet was so long we had Matt and some other Lowe’s worker bend it in half and shove it in the car. Even so the back of my car wouldn’t close all the way and had to be tied down.
We decided after such hard work we deserved a treat so we went to Sonic for slushies.
Don’t we look all cozy with the carpet surrounding us all?
The carpet was a remnant and cost Kermit all of ten bones. Not bad for something to throw down on the floor so the kids aren’t lounging on brick.

These pictures make me laugh out loud. I love the carpet!
I must admit, I never really think things through when I go to purchase large items and I’m sure it’s quite a sight! I remember buying my bamboo papasan chair from Pier 1 and just having my tiny Ford Tempo to try to get it home…I also had no rope to tie it to the top, so I used grocery sacks.
HSF your hair is so long! I hardly recognized you! It is really nice.
This reminds me of the loading zone at ikea
