Last week I was on the lookout for new shoes for Peanut. She’s been wearing a pair of shoes I bought for her last spring from H&M. They were too big for a while and didn’t fit her until late summer/fall. She dubbed them “princess slippers” or “ballet slippers” depending on her mood. They started out looking cute, nice, and sparkly. Now, after a fall and winter of wearing them pretty much every single day they are looking not so great. One day during her quiet time Dr. Destructo pulled the insoles out and shredded them. Yeah. They’re pretty sad looking.
So we went shoe shopping for something new. I was thinking sneakers might be a good idea for summer with all the running around she does and she was quickly sold on these cute pink and white ones. It wasn’t until after we decided to buy them that Peanut discovered they had little lights in the back when she walked. Well. That is now the coolest thing on the planet. And for the next two days I heard nothing but “Mama! Did you see my lights!?” every three seconds. Let me tell you, I almost threw her new light shows out the window I was so sick of hearing about them. She finally got (mostly) used to them and doesn’t try to show the to me eleventy hundred times a day anymore. Thank goodness. And I’ve gotta say, at least they don’t squeak because if they did they wouldn’t have made it out of the store. They really are cute, though, and now the “princess slippers” are safely hidden away, out of sight, out of mind.

Goodbye to the stinky princess shoes! Hooray!
