Rotation Change

For the last couple of months ODD has had pretty light rotations.  They didn’t last all day and he was often home around lunch.  He still had meetings and stuff but it was really nice having him home.  We got to spend some fun time together and I could leave the kids with him while I went grocery shopping.

The fun is over and all that is about to change.

For the next 10 weeks ODD will be gone until at least 10 Monday-Friday.  He does have weekends off so I can’t complain there.  We’re also going to be getting up a bit earlier than usual so we can all spend some waking time together.  Peanut doesn’t usually wake up until after 9 (nor do I if I can help it) and goes to bed at 8 so ODD wouldn’t get to see her if we didn’t get an earlier start.

This is going to be a big-ish change from the last two months but I’m sure we’ll be fine.  It still beats the fall he spent three months away from home on rotations in another state while I was pregnant with Wingnut.  Compare to that this will be cake.

Wouldn’t it be nice if things always stayed the way we liked it? Sorry you’ll have to get up earlier, no fun. When Daniel was gone for a week I realized how hard it is to not have them come home ever. Even if it’s late, it’s better than not coming home at night. I’d never make it as a single parent.

Those darn jobs! Who needs ‘em anyway, right? I miss school days, just like everyone said I would. Tay got to spend tons of time with Kellen and I, and it was so flexible. Good luck, Mama!

  • Um, how in the world do you get Peanut to sleep past nine? No matter what time Glitter goes to bed, she always wakes up between 7:15 and 7:30.

    • I read the “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” book when she was a baby and followed it in my own way, and adjusted the hours because I can’t stomach getting up at 7 every day for the rest of my life.

Um, I don’t know about “cake”. It’ll still be hard. Just not as hard.

Anything involving sleep and children is always hard.

So glad you put your schedule change in your blog! Just like to know so i can send you thoughts of encouragement – always up for a challenge – but never one to hurry to get in line for another. You guys are awesome – thanks for sharing your time with G & G this past month. loves

Glad I’m not the idiot that signed up for that gig.

  • Wow! My boys are up at 7 every. single. day. It’s really tough on a night owl like me. I might have to read that book you mentioned above.

Good luck with your new schedule!
