As many of you probably know I love marshmallows. When everyone else has s’mores I toast marshmallows and eat them plain. They’re so yummy and over the years I’ve become quite good at cooking them over a fire.
I’ve seen people make marshmallows a couple of times on the Food Network but I’ve never tasted home made marshmallows or tried to make them myself. While my mom was here in November, though, she mentioned wanting to try making cinnamon marshmallows this Christmas. That sounded awesomely good to me so I searched around online for a recipe that looked good and earlier this week I gave it a try.
I was surprised how quickly and easily it came together. After pouring them onto a pan I picked at them all afternoon let them sit overnight and cute them into squares the next morning. I rolled the cut edges in powdered sugar before putting them in a storage container so they don’t stick together. They are so tasty!
Now, do you understand what this means? This opens a whole new world of marshmallow-y goodness for me! I could even try to make my own Peeps! I know all you marshmallow haters are barfing in the corner at the thought of all this puffy, sticky, sweetness, but I’m thrilled to pieces with this revelation. Oh, the plans I’m hatching to spread my marshmallow love.

Love it! Yumyumyumyumyum!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE marshmallows! Like, one of my very most favorite foods in the entire world. I didn’t know that we had this in common.
And the idea of making them myself has never even occurred to me! Those look so yummy, I seriously think that I may need to give them a try!
I love marshmallows as well! I must say, my current faves are the caramel swirl ones; so delish when dipped in chocolate and allowed to set! I bet your homemade cinnamon ones would be divine as well!
YUM. Go peeps!
You know I’m a hater, but even I have heard homemade ones are a different breed altogether. Plus, they look darling in the little jar!
I didn’t know you could make marshmallows! I always learn something new when I blog stalk you. Plus, I have some tiny cookie cutters to make them into cute little shapes. Mmmm….another recipe to try this winter after the festivities are over. But….I don’t like peeps. Can we still be friends?!
Those look yummy. I have been dying to try to make them as well. Now, I need to go give it a try.
After the devil was kicked out of heaven he invented peeps…
Aren’t homemade marshmallows the best? If you ever want a recipe for vanilla marshmallows, I have one here: http://saltyspoon.com/index.php/2009/05/marshmallows-part-i/ One thing I recommend – sift together equal parts powdered sugar and rice flour and use that to dust the outsides of each cut marshmallow – the rice flour keeps them from getting sticky. If you really want to go nuts, top them with caramel and sea salt. Amazing!
