Happy Things

With all the worry and concern I’ve had for my dad I thought it might be nice to write down a few things that have made me happy the last few days in addition to the fact that my dad is still alive.

I put gel in Wingnut’s hair for the first time and spiked it.  He was a little confused about my laughing at him.  Also, it might be time for his first haircut.  The top is getting rather long.  It’s just so sweet and baby-ish I don’t think I’m quite ready yet.  I’ve also come to realize we’re not really spikey hair people.  At least not at the moment.

Wingnut is sort of scooting.  I say sort of because it seems unintentional and he only moves backward.  He likes being on the floor more, though.

We’ve been learning about our bodies in preschool this week and for one of our activities Peanut and I traced our bodies with chalk on the driveway.  Wingnut’s, too.  Peanut thought it was hilarious.  Wingnut, not so much.

To help keep ourselves busy and somewhat distracted on Friday Teeny, Graceface and I watched all the episodes of Project Runway that were On Demand.  I’d already seen them all, of course, but Teeny and Graceface hadn’t seen any since the paper challenge so all the episodes we watched were new to them and I was more than happy to watch them over again.  Watching PR makes me think perhaps I need to go to fashion design school.  You know, with all the spare money and time I have on my hands.

I made a tie for Wingnut to wear to church.  I made it clear back at the end of August but it took a while to find a long sleeved white collared shirt to go with so he hasn’t been able to wear it to church until just last week and again yesterday.  I think he looks quite handsome.  He thinks it’s a great new thing to munch on with his two little teeth (both on the bottom). Don’t mind my unmade bed and pink elephant pajamas.

He’s so wiggly.

I’ve been knitting myself some washcloths for the kitchen sink.  I got a few as gifts when I got married and they’ve always been my favorites but for some reason I haven’t thought to make more on my own until now.  When I’m knitting Peanut always asks if she can “hook” meaning crochet.  Using one of my bigger hooks she winds and knots scraps of yarn  into a messy wad.  It makes me smile to see her wanting to be crafty, too.

I’m making Christmas Casserole for dinner tonight.
