  • My house stinks.  Reeeally bad.  Last Friday, I can’t remember which, we left for a while to do some birthday shopping for Peanut and when we got back we found our kitchen, hallway, and storage rooms floors under several inches of water.  Awesome.  NYDD had jimmy rigged our portable dishwasher hooking it up in the washer/dryer closet so we didn’t have to wheel it around to the sink every time we did dishes, but every time I did laundry and opened and closed the closet door it wiggled the hose loose and it happened to flood while we were gone.  Lovely.  Some of it seeped into the living room and our bedroom carpet by the doors and now it reaks like old smelly gym socks.  Ugh!  I’m hoping to borrow my parents’ steam cleaner but it that doesn’t work we’re going to have to rip it up and replace the pad at least.  Good times.
  • We finally decided to have Peanut’s birthday party on Friday and I still haven’t sent out invitations yet.   I did dream about it last night, though, and think I know what I want to do, but I need to talk to my aunt about it still because we’re having it at her house.  If you’re in the Salt Lake area and want to come drop me a line and I’ll send you an evite when I finally get around to it.  Lady of Perpetual Chaos: you’re already on the list.
  • We bought a laptop.  We’ve been discussing it for a looooong time and finally decided it was time when NYDD got another scholarship.  We bought one that had been on display or something cuz that was all they had left of that model, but it ended up being really screwed up so we returned it and got a new one that I like a lot.  NYDD will take it to Washington and Oregon when he goes this fall but other than that it’s usually here and I get to play on it.  I’m still figuring out what programs I need from our desktop and it drives me crazy to not have all my stuff on it yet, but I’m working on it.  It’s really pretty and I like it a lot so far.  Plus it means I can now play music in the kitchen without having to blast it from another room.  Yay!
  • When our Subaru gets around 80 mph it starts to shake a little and bothers NYDD to no end so he was talking to Moco about it and Moco suggested maybe getting the tires balanced.  So I took it in yesterday and they called me and said it would be a waste of money because it needs new tires anyway (we knew that already) so we decided to just replace them now.  Then just before they closed I got another call saying while they were replacing the tires they noticed one of the back wheels rims or something (?? Remember how I know zero about cars??) was bent and needed to be replaced or it would always shake and wobble.  That’s probably what the problem was in the first place.  Anyway, when he called he said they would need to get the part from somewhere else and every place else was already closed for the day so they kept my car overnight and told me this morning they found the part and it will be ready sometime this afternoon.  *sigh*  I’m heading to my parents today and was hoping to leave around 10.  It looks like I’ll be leaving more around 2 or 3.  At least it’s getting taken care of.  In the mean time I’m taking care of some things before I go and hoping to finally wrap up all this health insurance garbage I’ve been dealing with and be done with it all for at least 6 months.
  • I washed a bunch of fabric yesterday that I’ve been meaning to for a while.  It’s all pressed and folded and looks so pretty in little colorful stacks.  Now I can make all the fun things I’ve been thinking about lately.  I’m really excited about it and hope to get some things sewn while I’m at my parents tonight and tomorrow then come home and sew some more!
  • I went to Steve and Barry’s last week with Cousin A.  I’ve never been before and I think it is now my new favorite store.  What a fun place.  I also found lots of good stuff including a pair of shoes that are so charming.  They’re from SJP’s line Bitten and I adore them.  Almost as much as my new yellow shoes.  Very close.  I was telling Kermit about them on the phone the other day and she requested a picture so I took one this morning, but can’t post it or any others I’ve taken recently because I’m on the laptop and don’t have all the stuff I need to post them yet.  Not to worry, though, I’ll definitely do a picture post when I get a chance.
  • Kermit told me Project Runway starts again tomorrow and I’m so excited!  I love that show.

  • Utah has a Steve & Barry’s now!??! That was one of my favorite stores back east; I spent far too much money there but always had some phenomenal deals. I really enjoy all the random t-shirts they have.

  • I couldn’t live without my Mac Powerbook and could never go back to a desktop. Desktops annoy me now! We do have a Mac mini which is beautifully portable as a desktop. I so heart Apple, I can’t help it, I just do.

Can’t wait till you get it all up and running! And have funny with your mama, don’t forget to say hi and take her to my blog to see pictures of Sweetums.

  • Some of those are not LITTLE bits, that’s big things in little bitty packages… some of them anyway. Have fun with the laptop, I LOVE mine!!! So handy.

  • Tia

Isn’t it great how everything seems to need fixing all at the same time and requires all the money to be spent? Can’t wait to see all the fun things you’ve been thinking up.

  • Yay! I was totally going to ask you to e-vite us before I made it to the end of the paragraph. Birthday parties are so much fun!

  • Mom

Ummm, is anyone but me bothered by the fact that the Subaru jiggles or shimmies or whatever at 80 MILES PER HOUR? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT, AS THE TOP SPEED LIMIT AROUND HERE IS 75? Just asking. :)
Can’t wait to see you in a few hours!

  • I’m so sorry to hear of your flood. That really sucks. All of the stuff around our home breaks at the same time. Actually it’s been three years of perpetual fixes… We’ve seen a new air conditioner, a bathroom overhaul due to a pipe breaking in the wall, a new washer and dryer after our old ones became possessed, a new sprinkler pump, a new garbage disposal, even a new mailbox had to be bought. *sigh* The joys of having a home… I feel your pain.

  • I totally feel you on the having to replace crap in the house. It blows.

  • em

    Ugh to stinky carpet.
Doesn’t it seem like life always has to be throwing SOMETHING at you?

  • Oh my gosh! So sorry about the mass amounts of water! I would be more than irritated to come home to that. Ok, and I’d probably end up blaming Andrew.

  • Snap! I’m sorry about the flooding. Last year, our water heater started leaking (a little) onto the water heater of the people downstairs, so we had it replaced, but the man who replaced it drained the old water heater into a drain in our floor…which goes DIRECTLY INTO THE DOWNSTAIRS UNIT! It was 40 gallons of water that went down their walls and onto their floors. We didn’t have to pay for it, thank goodness, but we still had to arrange all the cleaning and repair jobs for the people downstairs (who don’t speak English). Don’t you just hate being an adult sometimes!!

  • What!? Yikes, that’s not good (the water, I mean).

And I’m going to need to look up that store while I’m in Utah next week. I’m intrigued… :)

Oh, so sorry about the flood and mildew smell. That is pretty horrible. Hope the steaming works and replacing the pad is probably a good idea if it doesn’t work. We have had water issues in our basement, mushrooms and all. Good times!

Congrats on the laptop! That is pretty fun. Sounds like you have a lot going on and best wishes on Peanut’s birthday party.

Happy Birthday Peanut! She is beautiful.

  • I LOVE project runway, but, while we’re at my in-laws we don’t have TV. I was at the E.R. with my sis in law though all night Wed. and I got to watch Project Runway and Shear Genius, it was so fun to watch!
I am so sorry about your flood. That sucks.
How old is Peanut turning? Happy Birthday!! Good luck with the invitations and party planning :)
So how are you liking being back in UT? Hope all is well

  • Yeah for steve & Barry’s, laptops, and fabreeze. . . ok so fabreeze may not work in your situation, but during the dead winter and the heat of summer when the doors and windows are usually shut up tight, fabreeze works wonders to “freshen” the funk until the windows can be opened and the house aired out again. :) Good luck with that. i LOVE our laptop, yeah. . . and I’ve NEVER met someone that didn’t LOVE Steve & Barry’s. :) Such great deals on quality. :) Glad to hear it’s out west now! fun times!
