Tea Time

A while ago M and J and our little family tried to go to tea at a cute little place on Church Street.  It is called Lovejoy’s Tea Room and is completely charming.  We didn’t have a reservation and the wait was 2+ hours so we went someplace else to eat instead, but since seeing the place I’ve wanted to go back.  I thought it was someplace my mom would love so we tried to fit it in while she and Teeny were visiting, but there was so much to do it just didn’t happen.  Even with all the chaos I have going on I made it a priority.  I must have tea at Lovejoy’s before I move away.  J and I talked about it and we made plans to go on Friday and invited a few other people as well.  M made a reservation for us and we all went at 3:00.  They had a table all ready for us.

Since it’s been sweltering we ordered iced tea instead of hot tea.  I had the Forest Berry and Rosehips tea.

J said our server was also the owner.  Isn’t she cute?

Tea time

We made one big order and just shared everything.  The fresh fruit was so sweet and ripe.  Peanut loved it.

Yum!

We ordered all different kinds off tea sandwiches.  We also had scones and crumpets with delicious lemon curd, jam, and double devon cream.  All the sandwiches were amazing.  My favorite, though, was the Pear and Stilton sandwich.  Wow!  I may need to buy some pears and Stilton this week to make my own at home.  So good.  To read about Stilton head over to Tracy’s blog.  She posted about her love of Stilton a while ago.

Yum!

Peanut loved the fruit and had fun helping M cut her crumpet.

To top it all off we had petit fours.  Mine was vanilla and so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat it.  Almost.  I, of course, devoured it, sharing only a bite with my babe, who liked it so much she licked the little paper it came on after it was gone.

I only wish I’d taken a picture of the whole shop.  It’s the cutest place.  There is also a little shop across the street under the same ownership that sells teas and aprons and other little bits of tea charm.  I’m so, so happy I went before we moved.  When we come back for graduation next spring I may have to pay another visit, if not before then.
