Don’t Touch!

How many times have I said these words (or variations thereof) in the last two days?  Inumerable.  Peanut always picks the times I have eardrops in my ear and am lying down with them for 15 minutes per ear to get into things she shouldn’t.  Why is this?  Do you think she knows I’m incapacitated at the time and can’t get to her.  It must be because at these times she goes for the good stuff.  My wallet, very sharp kitchen scissors, and my make-up drawer just to name a few.  Also, just FYI, a tiny bit of facial cleanser will remove eye shadow and pencil from carpet when regular carpet cleaner won’t.  Sadly, yes, I know this from experience.  :S

I’ve also been doing some more serious packing the last couple of days.  All pictures are down and my apartment feels suddenly very boring.  And somehow bigger.  And also really echo-y.  While packing them away Peanut broke two frames (yes it was another one of those “don’t touch!” episodes) and I had to remove her from the area so I didn’t break one over her little noggin to knock her out just so I could get some peace for a minute.  *sigh*  She’s trying to be helpful but really?  Not so much.  I’ve since learned that a little Backyardigans goes a long way.  She’ll happily watch and leave me alone to pack things.  It’s fantastic.  Because of this things went much better today than yesterday.  I still have miles to go but stopped to make dinner tonight.  I haven’t made anything since last Friday when I made a crock pot roast from Trader Joe’s which was awesome and tried these really yummy roasted garlic potatoes Lauren told me about the day before.  They were so, so good.  She might post the recipe on her blog so I won’t write it out here, but trust me, they are worth a go.

Anyway, I think things are moving along slowly but surely.  I’m gradually being surrounded by boxes which means things are getting packed and after dinner I’m hoping to pack away all my serving pieces.  I may not have mentioned it, but in case you couldn’t tell, I hate packing.

  • Moving is the absolute worst. But getting into your new place with everything put away and everything’s so clean…it’s almost worth it!

Don’t feel bad about the cartoons. Every mom needs them sometimes, that’s why they were invented!

  • I wished I lived near you so that Peanut could come over and hang out with Glitter so you could pack in peace.

  • I better get the recipe up. I’ve been meaning to post it for a few days. I’ll try to have it by tomorrow. They were so yummy. I’m glad you enjoyed them.

  • A-Men! I’ve moved 3 times in the last 3 years. Just remember how fun it will be to organize a new place, and it won’t get you down so much! Happy Packing!

  • The last time I packed a house, I had a little girl about her age, too, and I’m so glad I don’t have to do that again! Thank goodness for cable TV!

Ugh, so sorry. Wish I was close enough to take Peanut for a day, or several.

  • I don’t like packing and moving either. Wildman was 3 months old when we moved from TX to FL. It wasn’t too bad because he was pretty much immobile. Toddlers and preschoolers are way more difficult to deal with on a day to day basis. Just making sure they don’t do harm to themselves and others is enough to handle. When you add moving and ear drops to the mix- what a mess! I feel your pain and wish I could lend a helping hand :-)

  • Not a big fan of packing either. Eventually I get around to it, but I put it off for as long as possible! Don’t you love the Backyardigans? They entertain my kids for 30 minutes everyday! I just wish I didn’t have the songs stuck in my head the rest of the day….
