Playing with Friends

I don’t know why I let so many days go by without blogging, because then I get all overwhelmed with so much to write I never get it all down.  Oh, well.  That’s life.  I’ll try to recap a little anyway.

On Wednesday Peanut and I went to music group and to Target with Lauren, Karen, and Grant.  Lauren was nice enough to drive as I’m carless on Wednesdays.  After shopping we let the girls play in a little play area at the mall.  We left when bigger kids came in and started taking over and being rowdy.  I got some fun pictures of them.  Peanut was a little scared to go off and play by herself so she mostly followed me around while I showed her how to play.

Yesterday we played with our friends M and J.  I really need to come up with screen names for them because I’ll probably be writing more and more about them.  They are going to Utah for their fourth year of school, too, and we’re so excited.  We don’t to play with them as much as we’d like because of all the time the boys spend studying.  Plus J works full time and they live across the bay so they aren’t super close by.  We’re hoping to be closer to them when we move so we can play more.  Also, J is pregnant!!  We’re really excited about it!  She’s due in the fall.

Anyway, we went with them to lunch yesterday.  We were going to go to tea at Lovejoy’s Tea Room, but it was a two hour wait and we were meeting other people so we went to Ti Couz instead and had some awesome buckwheat crepes.  Yum!  I also had the best lemonade ever and am totally going to try making it at home.  I’ll let you know how it goes and post a recipe if it works out.

Later we met up with the two other couples going to Utah for the fourth year and went on a hike at Lands End.  It wasn’t a difficult hike at all and it felt so good.  We were a little worried it would rain in the morning, but it was just nice and cool.  Perfect hiking weather.  Peanut loved every second cuz she got to walk around all she wanted and there were a lot of stairs to go up and down.  Poor K (another friend) and M went off to look at some tombstone or something and got a citation from some rangers.  That’s an expensive oops.  There were a lot of look outs and when we got to the beach there was a rock maze.  You can see part of it in the picture.

After the hike we headed back to M and J’s for dinner.  They always make really yummy stuff for dinner.  I want to eat there all the time.  They roasted some chickens and we made rice and an awesome cilantro sauce.  I got the recipe from J because it was so good.  NYDD didn’t like it cuz it has cilantro which he is very opposed to, but I loved it.  We played the Wii and chatted.  I got to hold baby Cambria for a little while, too.  What a sweet little babe.  Aww!  We headed home pretty soon after dinner (we ate pretty late) because Peanut was getting tired and whiny.  It was a while past her bedtime and she crashed as soon as we got home.  With NYDD’s schedule and study habits we don’t play with our friends very much, but when we do we always have so much fun.  We should definitely do it more often.

  • That is a lot of fun stuff!! Those roasted chickens + cilantro rice sounds mouthwatering. Tell “J” congratulations. I’m sure you already have :o ). That lookout is beautiful. And why did your friends get cited? That’s too bad.. Thanks for the update!!

  • How fun! That last family photo is SO NICE! It looks really good.

  • OHHHH! I see mountains in your picture! Mountains make me “homesick”. AHHHH I love the ocean! How gorgeous to take a family picture by the water!
I totally know what you mean when rowdy kids come in to the play area that are designed from small children! Ethan got ran over a few times here in the play area at our mall…which by the way is actually a mall, none of this “Cache Valley sissy mall stuff”. I thought the mall in Logan was tinsy winsy! Here they have REAL malls! :)

I guess I do have the advantage of living about 30 seconds from a bunch of other student families. I should appreciate that more.
Isn’t it crazy how big our kids are getting. The picture of peanut with the mirror cracks me up, but wow she’s a big girl!

  • How cute is your family! You guys look so happy. Sounds like peanut likes to play with ehr friends, that family picture of you guys by the ocean is so gorgeous! I haven’t been to the ocean for a long time. Well, I’m glad things are going well with you guys.
