Christmas Recap
Posted by hairyshoefairy on Thursday Dec 27, 2007 Under Cool Stuff, Little Peanut, Me, Myself, and I, My Fambly, NYDD, Squee!I think we’re finally coming out of our sugar comas. After eating obscene amounts of food that I’m sure is bad for us (but oh, so yummy) and watching an unhealthy amount of TV and DVD’s we’re thinking about getting back to real life. We’re still nibbling on dipped chocolates and drooling over Tracy’s cinnamon rolls (to DIE for, btw) but we have real food in our refrigerator and are eating it regularly.
NYDD is back hitting the books because he has an exam in a couple of weeks and is still doing clinical rotations throughout the break. Peanut and I are back to work keeping the building clean and taking care of the never ending issues that come up with a job like this.
We had a fantastic Christmas, though. I’m really happy we didn’t go anywhere. It’s much more calm and relaxing for us this way.
Peanut had so much fun ripping paper off gifts. She also got so caught up in every toy she didn’t want to open another. She just played for a while with each one. We eventually had to hide them as she opened or we’d still have been opening gifts at midnight. Her favorite gifts seem to be a *little shopping cart* that she loads with toys and pushes all over our living room, a *Magnedoodle*, and a *spinner alphabet toy*. She’s having the time of her life. Things she doesn’t care much about? Her pretty new clothes.
NYDD’s favorite gifts were CDs. He got an *awesome mix of soundtrack favorites* from Wildman and Wildbound (they’re NYDD’s sibling’s family who gave to us this year). He also the *remastered Joshua Tree album.* He immediately shut off the Christmas music and put both of these on.
My favorites were an *Essential Oils kit,* again from the Wild’s. It came a week or so before Christmas and I opened it the second I got back in our apartment, cuz I’m like that, and cuz Wildbound said I could (thanks for the go-ahead). That was my defense when NYDD got home and discovered I’d opened a Christmas gift early.
I also got a *new camera* from NYDD. Then I got an extra happy surprise when I opened a *photo printer* as well! I can’t wait to make a little album about the holidays this year.
We also got some money from our families and have already spent it on a bunch of fun stuff. Thanks moms and dads and Grandpa!
Now here are a few pictures from this weekend.
Playing with the shopping cart. It’s empty here but she loads it up with anything she can pick up.
We bought Peanut a new coat with her Christmas money. She LOVES it. She wouldn’t take it off until she had to eat lunch. She must be my daughter. A little coat girl. I only wish it had come in blue or green. Oh, well. Pink is cute, too. Also, that’s her spinner alphabet toy from Fuffy and Teeny.
Playing with her magnedoodle and hanging out with daddy.
Playing with my new camera. NYDD started making faces after I used the flash on him too many times.
I hope everyone had as wonderful a Christmas as we did. Merry Christmas my lovely friends!!

I believe it is a universal truth that toddlers love mini shopping carts. It’s at least a complete truism in our family.
Happy Holidays!

Looks like you had a great Christmas! It’s so hard to get back to reality after the holidays. It’s almost like you need a vacation to recover from all the fun. PS- I love the little shopping cart!

I totally know what you mean about eating delicious sweets and not regular food. Soooo amazing for a couple of days, but I am glad I am back to regular stuff.
Peanut looks so cute!

@ Kermit,
It seems to be the case. I looked all over for a “Tuff Stuff” cart, but they are vintage now so they’re all expensive. We like this one better anyway.
@ Aubrey,
Thanks! Yes, you should definitely get it for Paul.
@ LL,
LOL. It’s the wackiest hair. She has the craziest growth streams you’ve ever seen. Her hair grows forward so the side-swept bang is accidental. Usually it hangs in her face and makes me crazy. Here it’s not so bad. It’s getting super-long, though, huh?
@ Brittany,
Thanks! The shopping cart is from Target (of course).
@ Lauren,
Exactly! It’s so great for a while, but then? Crash. I need real food!!! LOL.

I just love peanuts hair! And I love the shopping cart, too. That’s way nicer than the cheap plastic ones we always seem to find. My girls loved, and still love their shopping carts (well, my 7 yr old anyway).

Looks like a wonderful holiday for you all. Staying home can be a wonderful experience for Christmas. Peanut’s hair is adorable when it’s all messy and “just-woke-up-ish!”

Oh, those pictures are so darling and they kind of break my heart! I think if i saw Peanut without you or NYDD around I wouldn’t know it was her!
Grandma’s should see their grandgirls more often than every few months…
And by the way, your ruggedly handsome NYDD looks a little (OK, a lot) ruggedly PSYCHO in those pictures. Nice…

I love the picture of Peanut in the pink jacket on the left side. She looks like Karen Hayes from 24. It makes me laugh every time.
