I was tagged by Nestle to come up with 7 things about myself that you may not know. This is kinda hard for me. It seems like I share everything. Except, you know, our real names and where we live exactly.
Let’s see what I can come up with.
- When I find a favorite film I can watch it over and over and over without losing my like for it. And over. When I was little one of my favorites was The Neverending Story. And over. I’m not sure how long it was my favorite, but at least the whole summer I was 8. And over and over. I watched it every single day. Sometimes twice. And over. In high school it was Ever After. I watched it ever weekend for a few months. And over. Now I’m not quite so obsessive about films but still love watching my favorites several times a year. This drives NYDD crazy. He can only stand to watch the same film once a year. If even that often. Sometimes, if it was a film he really liked, I can get him to watch it twice a year with some very rare exceptions. Usually I watch my favorite films by myself. Over and over.
- I love the wind. That may sound kinda strange, but I love everything about it. The way it lifts my hair and sweeps it around my face. The way it blows autumn leaves around the sidewalk in little whirlwinds. The way it makes me want to pull out warm sweaters and wrap my arms around myself as I walk down the street. The way it sounds at night. The way it makes me feel completely free when I tip my head back, close my eyes, and stretch out my arms.
- I love having my bed made and am obsessive-compulsive about the way I make it. I don’t actually make it every day, but now that I’m a SAHM I do make it at least every couple of days. It needs to be made in a very specific way with everything centered, tucked, and folded just right. NYDD doesn’t understand this and just watches and chuckles when he sees me do it. I love the way it feels to slip into cool, crisp sheets at night that are folded perfectly. It’s a simple pleasure for me.
- I’ve mentioned this one before, but I thought I’d throw it in here anyway. I love the smell of laundry detergent. Specifically Tide. I love walking by laundromats and sniffing the air. When I walk by apartment buildings and smell the soft warm air from the laundry rooms I like to slow down and enjoy the scent. When putting on clean shirts I love to breath in the nice smell of my Tide. It’s so clean and soft. Mmmmm.
- Having my hair brushed is one of my favorite things. Even if I have to do it myself, which is usually the case, it’s still so calming and relaxing to me. It’s so nice I practically start purring. I have a pretty hard head and like the brush to have lots of strong bristles that scrape across my scalp, massaging it. I recently discovered that Peanut enjoys this, too. Now she’ll sit happily on my lap for at least ten minutes at a time while I brush her little curls. It’s the sweetest thing ever.
- I want to live in an Arts & Crafts style home someday. I used to be all about the Victorian style. Any of them. Queen Anne, Stick Victorian, Shingle style, Italianate. I thought all of them were beautiful. I still think so too, but now I wouldn’t actually want to live in one. For some reason my taste has shifted. I prefer the Arts & Crafts style much more now. I love the clean lines and angles. I love the mission wood. I love the windows. I love the front porches and front doors. *happy sigh* Someday. . .
- I love buying serving pieces. Platters, bowls, trays, pitchers; they call to me. It’s funny, cuz it’s not like I do a lot of entertaining. I just like them and I like the use them even when it’s just NYDD and me. It’s a good thing I live close to an IKEA and Crate and Barrel Outlet. Or maybe not such a good thing. I tend to buy lots of fun things there. Oh! Also, jars and bottles. They just look so pretty all lined up and I can usually find something to use them for. It’s kind of a weakness of mine.
Well, there’s my 7. Now I’m tagging McKenzie, Mom, Chan, Jayci, Dominoe, and Lacey. Join the fun and share your seven in a post of your own!

We should so totally be neighbors! But then we might scare each other with our similarities…. except the part where you sing so well.
@ Em,
I would love nothing more than to be your neighbor! We really should. Then we can have joint hubby bday parties. LOL.
so fun to read this stuff about you!
that comment up there was a test cuz before it wasn’t working. i saw neverending story for the first time when i was 8 years old at a primary class pizza party. it was awesome. and i love ever after, it is one of my favorite movies. and i LOVE having my hair brushed. after getting massaged for so many years i have come to realize that i really just like a good hairbrushing or scalp massage.
oh man. I love the wind too. Especially when it’s just before a rain storm.
thanks for the tag! I’ll see what I can do.. you’re right, it is SO hard to think of new things that people don’t know about you! It’s a reminder each time that you don’t wear your life history on your sleeve! I’m so glad you like the wind.. I really dislike it, and I occasionally feel bad for it because I dislike it so much! haha – so I’m glad people like you make it feel better by complimenting all the different ways it makes you feel so good.
) So I’ll sit and stew on these 7 different things and try to come up with some good ones. It was fun getting to know you a bit better by your answers! You’re such a fun person.
The Neverending Story always scared me as a kid! I always had to leave the room when the horse got sucked into the quicksand! I do that movie thing too! My favorite in highschool was Ever After also!:) Thanks for the tag! I will think of some good ones!
WOW! I didn’t know all of that stuff about you! Well, okay..I actually remembered that you liked brushing your hair for some reason. I remember you doing it alot after or during Seminary Council meetings way back when and the memory didn’t come to me until you had mentioned it. Funny thing to remember eh! You do have pretty hair though! I would brush mine more often but every time I do huge clumps of hair come out! Does that ever happen to you?
@ Aubrey,
LOL about two comments. Sorry it was being so freaky for a while. Yes, it’s like getting a massage. It makes me feel better.
@ Glittersmama,
Ooh! I before a storm is the best. I used to sit out in a rocking chair in my front yard when I knew a storm was coming. It’s the best.
@Jayci and Chan,
Can’t wait to read both of yours!
@ Jamie,
Thanks! And it is so funny you remember that. LOL. I did it during Magic, too. I actually did it more then to help my hair dry cuz I usually ended up going to school with it wet. But I always had a brush in my bag, that’s for sure. And yes! I’m a HUGE shedder. I lose so much hair it’s out of control. Especially after I had Peanut. It’s everywhere, all over the carpet, the bathroom sink, the tub and shower drains. It drives NYDD bonkers. It’s not as much as when my hair was long, though.
I love the fresh sheets thing too! I thought I was the only one. My hubby can understand now that he has had the chance to slip into a freshly made bed, instead of crumpled covers. It’s a gift I got from my mom.
I am with you on the Tide! I love how fresh everything smells after it has been washed! I have been using Tide Pure Essentials – white lilac scent and it is the best smelling laundry detergent I have ever smelled! I absolutely love it!!
very nice, I’m with you on the tide
Is 11 for real?
@ Glittersmama,
IDK, but I checked out his site and found it kinda annoying. Whatever.
I HEART TIDE!
I think sniffing it may be a problem for me…
