Here is something I’ve been meaning to blog about for a while but just haven’t Now is the time.
NYDD has been bugging me to print off my blog so we’ll have a hard copy of it. I don’t really keep much of a real pen and paper journal so it really is a good idea, but I kind of thought, “Why do you care so much? You don’t read it.” So I just haven’t done it. Besides, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of printing it all off on my computer and having a billion loose pages and I thought having it printed by a company would be expensive and we are poor students. I also didn’t know of anyone who had done it and could tell me how it worked out for them.
Then I read this post by Kerflop. She had linked to Blogprinting, it looked good, and it was affordable. I talked to NYDD about it and told him I wanted to do it. I was just going to go cheap. B&W. Nothing fancy. All I wanted was a real hard copy after all.
NYDD argued with me about it, but not the way I anticipated. He wanted me to go all out. Get it in full color. I asked why he cared so much when he didn’t read it anyway. He said someday he’d probably want to and our kids would want to, too, and it would be so much better to have the pictures and everything in color. He finally talked me into it. I even designed the front and back covers to mimic my old Echos of Asia banner. I placed my order and waited impatiently by the mailbox.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It was much nicer than I anticipated and I’m so happy I did it in color. It wasn’t even that expensive. It’s based on the number of pages. My first years worth of posts was only around $50 and that included shipping. NYDD and I looked through it, reading a post here and there and I realized how valuable all those memories are. I’d forgotten so many things and some of it hasn’t even been a year ago! I’m really happy I did it.
Isn’t it pretty?

Now in the interest of memory and posterity, “Go and do thou likewise.”

Thanks for showing us what it looks like! I copy and paste my blog entries into Word, then save them onthe computer and on paper, but just a simple plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. I will absolutely use this service instead!
I really want to do this, but I have SO many archives. Plus, when I moved I stupidly started deleting my old blogger posts. I didn’t realize that this would erase my photos at wordpress.
SO. I have to put back about 7 months of photos before I do it, but that book looks amazing.
That is SSOOOOOoooooo incredible! I didn’t know that was even an option! And yours looks fabulous, of course! Does it print the comments people leave too?
Such a good idea! I’m working on a blog for Glitter to do the same thing.
I love that you got to design the cover. It looks great.
i love it! i can’t wait to see it sometime-hopefully soon!
@ Wildbound,
I’m just glad I have the original post, though.
Sadly, no. Comments aren’t included.
Thank you SOOO much for posting this!!! I’ve been wondering how to do this!
oh i can’t wait to do this with the kids blog. i’m gonna do it at the end of the year. the blog printer i’m going through actually gives you the option of printing comments or not. i’m still undecided. but this is beautiful. i’m so happy for you and glad that you gave in to NYDD’s insistence on going all out with the color version. it looks great!
@ Aubrey,
What publisher are you going with? I’m wondering how other publishers are.
Yay!!!! Congrats. It looks awesome!
HSF!
That is the coolest! I have given up scrapbooking and just went to “photo albuming”! I think that some day when I have at least a years supply of blog posts I would love to do that! Thanks for the idea!
