I love The Food Network. Seriously. I really enjoy watching other people cook. My mom cooks all the time and I used to sit at the kitchen counter and watch her. I didn’t often participate unless she was making something good (read somthing full of sugar that would rot my insides). I remember watching The Frugal Gormet on Saturday mornings when I was little (didn’t that guy end up being convicted of child molestation or something?). I never really got in to Julia Child, though. It was too scary to me. I just remember her thick arms, big butcher knife, and huge, whole fish. Scary.
In the last five years or so I discovered The Food Network and it’s one of my favorite channels. I love watching other people put things together and make all these yummy looking dishes. I especially like watching the chefs cut stuff up with their really cool sharp knives. They’re so quick and so good at it. It’s hypnotizing to me or something. I’m strange, I know. I also love watching how taffy or pulled candy is made. It’s just cool. As has been mentioned, I’m not much of a cook. I don’t have the patience for it.
NYDD thinks it’s weird that I don’t love cooking but I love The Food Network. He doesn’t care much for it unless it’s a Food Network Challenge and sometimes Iron Chef America. The thing is, I have been actually making dinner more often lately. I think it’s because I’m watching The Food Network more. I think it motivates me. I see the chefs making cool stuff that looks so good and think, “I have the stuff I need to make that. I think I’ll give it a try.” Then I do and it actually works! I think the next time I’m watching Nigella Feasts or The Barefoot Contessa and NYDD changes the channel, I should point out this motivation connection to him and, for the sake of food, he’ll give in and change it back.

I LOVE Food Network. I had my own Iron Chef party (The theme was “Apple”). I love Ina and am so glad that Nigella is finally on that channel. I am a huge Jamie Oliver fan as well.
I miss the show “Calling all cooks” and the one where they would show up at people’s houses and make stuff out of their pantries, though.
I used to watch Nigella Bites on some other channel and loved it so I was really glad when FN picked her up.
